Cylinder head modification - phase 1
Elise 2ZR engine (MY2011-2020)
To help the 2ZR engine in the Lotus Elise Sport 220/250 / Cup to achieve further performance, it was necessary to optimize the restrictive original cylinder head. Through CNC machining of the inlet and outlet channels and, above all, machining the cross-sections in the valve seat area, we were able to significantly increase the flow volume while maintaining the valve stroke. The resulting additional performance is heavily dependent on the additional modifications made to the engine. The cylinder head machining is also optimal in connection with sports camshafts.
It is a replacement cylinder head, please send us your old cylinder head back after removal. If you do not agree this, we will charge an additional 300 Euro deposit-fee for the old parts.
Forged piston & connecting rod for the Toyota 2ZR engine of the Elise(Lotus Elise: 220PS, 240 or 250 PS from MY2010)
We deliver a set consisting of 4 forged pistons and 4 forged connecting rods (including piston rings and bolts).
Perfectly suited for optimizing the stability and performance of the 2ZR engine.
The focus of the development targets of the 2ZR engine was obviously on low emission values and low internal friction losses. This is also evident in the filigree design of numerous components, such as the pistons and connecting rods. At outputs of 300 hp and above, the standard pistons reach their thermal limits and the connecting rods reach their mechanical limits. The significantly higher temperature load on the pistons requires an improved heat flow in the area of the piston crown and top land and thus changed material cross-sections and dimensions. A variant with forged pistons in the original dimensions did not bring the required improvements.The dimensions (length) of the forged connecting rods are adapted to these pistons and form a functional package with them. A series piston or other pistons cannot be used with our connecting rod (same as forged pistons cannot be used with standard rods).The innovative X-Beam profile of the connecting rod combines a high level of bending and buckling rigidity with a dimensionally stable lower connecting rod eye, which guarantees a homogeneous bearing load even at high speeds and medium pressures.The mean pressure increases from 12 bar in the natural-aspirated variant to 22 bar in the compressor motor with 300 hp. At 22 bar mean pressure, a force of 11,115 N, i.e. more than 1,000 kg, acts on the piston. At peak pressure, this value increases about 4 times, or about 4 tons.
