KT-7 Speed Sequential Manual Transmission (7-speed)
Lotus uses either a manual 6-speed manual transmission, or a torque converter automation in the IPS-Spec of the Lotus Exige.
In the case of ambitious driving, a major disadvantage of a classic gearbox is the shifting process per se, the needed shift-time, including missing torque and in addition, the resulting possibility of faulty operation.
The torque converter has the disadvantage of less efficiency and thus friction losses, slow shifting times and it is very heavy-weight.
The Komo-Tec 7-speed sequential gearbox is what will separate your Lotus from the rest of the pack! The gearbox was developed following a strong demand from Lotus-drivers needing to gain the additional performance that factory part cannot deliver. The non-synchronized, straight gearing is for a gearbox of this design surprisingly low noise while normal driving.
The main advantages are obvious:
faster acceleration, higher strength (rated up to 900 Nm)lightweight (only 58.5 kg)quicker shifts (flatshifting of gears as little as 40 milliseconds)a range of optional ratios (5 different options are available for Max-Speed: 274, 212, 252, 231, 297 km/h)Another advantage is:
The transmission is specially designed for the Lotus Exige V6 and Evora and therefore has the advantage that the original driveshafts, couplings and brackets can be adopted without any modifications (on the engine side). The installation is therefore faster and cheaper
than with other sequential gearboxes that has been developed as universal transmissions. Universal oil coolers and / or an oil temperature sensor can also be added as an option (surcharge).
Unique to this type of transmission is an externally adjustable differential nut. The maximum adjustment is 13kg and it is possible to customize the ramp angle of the differential lock to customer requirements. The standard ramp angles are 53/0 and 40/0.
Depending on customer requirements, we can provide a very short close ratio gearbox for you or you are chasing the 300 km/h. So there is an option for everyone that is right.

Komo-Tec double clutch transmission "IDS"
After an intensive development period, extensive test drives and programming, we can present you our solution for a double clutch transmission in the Exige V6 called „IDS“.
The Komo-Tec "IDS" (Intelligent Direct Shift) stands for a fully automatic 6-speed direct shift automatic transmission which, with the help of two clutches, enables you to accelerate without interrupting tractive power *.What was the basic idea for the IDS concept? We started developing a double clutch transmission as early as 2016. It was important to us to find a good compromise between the existing manual and the the available IPS automatic transmission from Lotus. Unfortunately, the IPS gearbox was a classic “old school” automatic torque-converter that shifted very slowly and kept attention with problems.
The Komo-Tec IDS (the basis is a VAG DQ250) is exactly the solution you are looking for in between. No more mechanical shifting and indifferent searching for gears or even shifting on the racetrack are a thing of the past.Especially with a model as agile as the Exige, you now have both hands on the steering wheel and enjoy the much faster gear changes in harmony with full control of the vehicle. Furthermore, the transmission can also convince in terms of driving comfort in normal road use. The selector switch to D and the vehicle can be moved comfortably and quietly in everyday life or master the long drive on the motorway. For the automatic upshifts and downshifts, both the engine speed and the speed of the vehicle are taken in notice for the shifting process. Of course, you can also take manual influence by pulling the shift paddle. Here the system shows the dramatic improvement in dynamics. Without interrupting the tractive power*, the full dynamic potential of the light vehicle is released. A special feature in manual mode (IDS +/-) should be mentioned here: When upshifting, the electrical transmission control from Komo-Tec only reacts to the explicit actuation of the paddles and thus the driver's shift request! Every Exige now manages to cover the bandwidth between a spectacular track tool and an everyday sports car. The manual shift option is located directly on the steering wheel using shift paddles and in the center console we offer you a high-quality panel with gear selector for the classic automatic options D (Drive), N (Neutral), P (Park) and R (Reverse), as well as S (Sport) and "IDS +/-" for the manual operation of the paddles.
The system was integrated into the vehicle in such a way that all other functions and displays remain fully functional and the gears are even shown on the original factory spec display. The gear ratios are similar to the standard gear ratio in 6th gear, which corresponds to a calculated top speed of 306 km/h at 7,250 rpm. However, gears 4 and 5 are kept shorter in order to enable better gear connections and to further increase the dynamics. We always deliver the gearbox conversion including a mechanical limited-slip differential, as this offers itself as a synergy as part of the labour. We consider this addition to be mandatory to increase traction and drivability. Modified drive shafts contribute to the stability. Technically, the Komo-Tec IDS gearbox works with a wet-running multi-plate clutch which can achieve up to 650 Nm and is then adapted to the V6 engine with a lightweight flywheel and a specially made adapter plate. The transmission is adequately cooled by an integrated water-to-oil heat exchanger.
At 84 kg, the gearbox is still only insignificantly +17 kg heavier than the classic manual-6-speed-shift (EA60 = 67 kg) or +22 kg for our sequential 7-speed gearbox (62 kg) with significantly lower maintenance costs due to the use of large-scale technology.

Short ratio / final drive
for Lotus Exige V6 Range, Evora Range, 3-Eleven and Emira with 2GR-Powertrain with EA60-Gearbox
The standard Exige S V6 gearbox ratio is basically not so bad but needs an improovement from 4. to 5. gear there is areal big speed gap of 70km/h . Also the top speed of around 315km/h at 7200rpm is real long. So we decided to change the final drive ratio in this gearbox, there are two final drives in this one gearbox, one for gear 1-4 one for the gear 5-6. We change to get a propper gear change. In the attached board you could see the speed at 7200rpm in comparison between the standard gearbox, our close ratio. The gearbox could also be used in Evora which are fitted with the Lotus sport ratio gearbox.
A perfect supplement to the ratio is our special limited slip differential we also offer. The use of the close ratio can lead to more mechanical noise. All figueres are used to the standard wheels size.

Drexler Mechanical Limited Slip Differential
for Lotus Exige V6, Evora or Emira with V6 Toyota 2GR-Engine / EA60-Transmission (Modelyear 2009ff, manual)
Developed directly on track, the Drexler Mechanical Limited Slip Differential guarantees for a lot of driving fun and stands for a good workmanship! This Differential has been developed to optimize the requirements of the V6-Concept in terms of power-to-weight ratio, torque and driving dynamics. With the standard setting the lock is optimally applicable for track days, but still fine for road use.
The target is to achieve maximum agility and driving performance. The Mechanical Drexler Differential uses friction plates to generate the locking effect, thus ensuring effective operation of the Differential during acceleration, as well as an optimized braking effect. Precise handling is ensured by reducing the slip on the inside wheel and preventing "spinning" through the optimized force distribution on both wheels. Normally a friction-plates Differential works more efficiently than conventional parts using the Torsen principle or a Quaife.
The main advantages of a Mechanical Drexler Differential are:
Improved acceleration skills through a fast and efficient locking response, especially from the cornerspeed and from the standing
Improved traction and stabilization in the various dynamic driving conditions and driving styles (starting, accelerating, braking, cornering, high speeds, slippery roads)
Durability is given by the use of high quality materials and high quality standards. Thus ensures a long service life and low revision costs.
New bearings for the fitting of the differential in the gearbox housing are required, if necessary send us a message and order as well.
Note: a Quaife-Differential is a standard at Evora-Range, 311 and Emira V6!
Quaife ATB Limited Slip Differential
for Lotus Exige & Evora with V6 Toyota 2GR-Motor / EA60-Transmission (Modelljahr 2009ff, Schalter)
The popular upgrade variant for the OEM differential: The Quaife Limited Slip Differential!
A limited-slip differential provides you with optimized traction, sportier drive and improved braking performance of your Lotus. The Quaife Differential automatically biases the torque across the axle to the wheel with the most grip. Unwanted wheelspin and slip are greatly reduced, resulting in less understeer on front or four wheel drive machines and reduced oversteer on rear wheel drive vehicles. This is a performance benefit and increases the power output onto the asphalt.
In contrast to a Torsen-Differential the Quaife uses its own principle with helical gears. This keeps the temperature low and noises are quite low and quiet. Quaife never ‘locks,’ making it progressive, safe and user friendly. Also, this design ensures less material wear and thus for an extremely durable with low maintenance intensity. High reliability is further ensured by Quaife's precision workmanship, quality materials and ISO9001-2008 certification.
- Traction maximization and slip minimization through a controlled power transmission to the driven wheels (especially on slippery road conditions)
- Improved braking performance through reduced blocking, also working in conjunction with electronic stability and traction control programs
- Use of existing transmission oil specifications and less wear compared to a friction disc differential.
Range: Evora, Evora S, Exige S V6, Exige Sport 350, Exige Sport 380, Exige Sport 410, Exige Cup 430, (3,5l with 280-430 hp)
