Drexler Mechanical Limited Slip Differential
for Lotus Elise / Exige Mk1/2 with Rover 18K4-Engine / PG1-Transmission (Modelyear 1995-2004, manual)
Developed directly on track, the Drexler Mechanical Limited Slip Differential guarantees for a lot of driving fun and stands for a good workmanship! This Differential has been developed to optimize the requirements of the Lotus-Concept in terms of power-to-weight ratio, torque and driving dynamics. With the standard setting the lock is optimally applicable for track days, but still fine for road use.
The target is to achieve maximum agility and driving performance. The Mechanical Drexler Differential uses friction plates to generate the locking effect, thus ensuring effective operation of the Differential during acceleration, as well as an optimized braking effect. Precise handling is ensured by reducing the slip on the inside wheel and preventing "spinning" through the optimized force distribution on both wheels. Normally a friction-plates Differential works more efficiently than conventional parts using the Torsen principle or a Quaife.
The main advantages of a Mechanical Drexler Differential are:
- Improved acceleration skills through a fast and efficient locking response, especially from the cornerspeed and from the standing
- Improved traction and stabilization in the various dynamic driving conditions and driving styles (starting, accelerating, braking, cornering, high speeds, slippery roads)
- Durability is given by the use of high quality materials and high quality standards. Thus ensures a long service life and low revision costs.
Range: Elise Mk1, Elise Mk2 Rover, 111S (not Toyota-Powertrain), 340R, Exige Mk1
Quaife ATB Limited Slip Differential
for Lotus Elise Mk1, Mk2, VVC, 340R, Exige Mk1 with Rover 18K4-Engine / PG1-Transmission (Modelyear 1995-2011)
The popular upgrade variant for the OEM differential: The Quaife Limited Slip Differential!
A limited-slip differential provides you with optimized traction, sportier drive and improved braking performance of your Lotus. The Quaife Differential automatically biases the torque across the axle to the wheel with the most grip. Unwanted wheelspin and slip are greatly reduced, resulting in less understeer on front or four wheel drive machines and reduced oversteer on rear wheel drive vehicles. This is a performance benefit and increases the power output onto the asphalt.
In contrast to a Torsen-Differential the Quaife uses its own principle with helical gears. This keeps the temperature low and noises are quite low and quiet. Quaife never ‘locks,’ making it progressive, safe and user friendly. Also, this design ensures less material wear and thus for an extremely durable with low maintenance intensity. High reliability is further ensured by Quaife's precision workmanship, quality materials and ISO9001-2008 certification.
- Traction maximization and slip minimization through a controlled power transmission to the driven wheels (especially on slippery road conditions)
- Improved braking performance through reduced blocking, also working in conjunction with electronic stability and traction control programs
- Use of existing transmission oil specifications and less wear compared to a friction disc differential.
A lot of people don't quite realise the original driveshafts were designed for engines up to approx. 150 Lb/ft. Although increasing the torque these driveshafts have to cope with has proven not to directly lead into trouble they will at some point give up the ghost. These driveshafts have barshafts from higher tensile material which will make them last longer and which will make them withstand silly torque levels. A real must have if you're serious about building a high power car! Please select the side and model for your order. (Left is short, Right is long).
Optional: The Standard spec as from factory side
Uprated synchromesh rings for Rover PG1-gearbox (set)
Synchromesh rings do wear over time however, giving a notchy gearchange and that nasty 'crunch' we all dread. These uprated rings will give smoother and more durable performance in all conditions. With correct maintenance, the Rover PG-1 gearbox can handle anything from general road use to the extremes of racing. Our supercharged Rover K-Series cars retain their PG-1 gearbox and run with higher hp and even on the track without issue.
With these heavy duty and true motorsport cables, you can overcome three problems! First of all, the risk of breaking tends next to zero. They are carried out heavy duty and have been used in motorsport for a long time.Second, you may have installed a gear linkage kit to get rid of the sloppy feeling you normally experience while shifting gears ? These cables will do better than that. The gear change will feel like it should have felt from the very beginning!Third, the adjustability of these cables is much better. The ends own seperate adjusters, which makes it a lot easier and preciser to adjust the gearchange. The cables get shipped pairwise.</p>
Clutch Master Cylinder
Besides the seals in the Clutch Slave Cylinder, the seals in the Clutch Master Cylinder will go over time. The Master cylinder is not a serviceable item, so you will have to completely replace the unit.
AP Clutch Slave Cylinder
The internal seals of the clutch slave cylinder on your car is being used quite intensively and unfortunately... it will start leaking at a certain point. The brakefluid will be exposed to air, which will increase the wear of the seal, but also the internals of the slave cylinder. When the cluch isn't engaging properly and certainly when you can see a trace of brakefluid coming from the cylinder, it's time for a change! This AP Racing cylinder is a direct replacement of the item on any car with a K-series engine. Simply undo the clip on the rod and remove two bolts, move the clutch pipe from the old to the new cylinder and off you go again!
Replaces the standard plastic clutch line of the early Elise models. Prevents the commonly known difficulties with the clutch when the engine is warm.Available for Elise MK1/MK2 and Exige MK1.
Special lever for reducing the switching paths. The lever has a modified ratio, and makes the gear change very accurate. It is very simple to change against the OEM version.Fits for all Lotus Elise / Exige with Rover engine.
By the use of rubber bushings at the original switching unit, it can arise the formation of large tolerances. In order to obtain a more precise shift feel, it is recommended to replace the original bushings by Nylatron bushings.Assembly instructions are included with shipping.
