We are now adding the new ZR285 variant to our well-known and successful performance phase ZR265. We developed this performance phase to give the new Elise S / Sport 220 / Cup 250 a little more performance. The new 1.8 S (2ZR engine) differs from the previous 1.8 SC (2ZZ engine) by a completely new engine generation and a compressor that now has a water-cooled charge air cooler (previously completely without intercooler or at the Exige S with Air-to-air cooler). This means that the problem of poor charge air cooling in the older models is significantly reduced, so the trouble of the current 1.8 S is more at the point of the exhaust system and tuning the engine management. The original exhaust manifold has a very small diameter and the pipe lengths are not perfect. Therefore, we use a 4:1 stainless steel exhaust manifold with optimized pipe lengths and a 200-cpsi HJS sports catalyst. The result is powerful, sporty sound without being obtrusive and an improvement in performance and torque curve. We use a TRD Airbox to optimize the air-intake. Compared to the ZR265 phase, which is supplied by us with the factory-ECU and software optimization, the ZR285 phase also includes a freely programmable engine control unit (EMU Black). The individual software coordination with the new control unit changes the ignition angle, injection time, camshaft phase, intake air compensation and the characteristic curve of the throttle. Two mappings are created. Road with almost standard performance (95ROZ) and the option Sport (98ROZ). Furthermore, the use of a brideband lambda sensor allows us to program a very exactly working file and thus achieves a peak output of approx. 281 hp and a torque of approx. 295 Nm. The additional torque is amazing, especially in the middle revs.
